On-Demand Training Synopsis

On-Demand Training Synopsis

Overview

This post summarizes the process of participating in one of our on-demand training sessions. We’ll look at registration, session participation, session evaluation, and followup support.

On-Demand Means On-Demand

First off, when we say on-demand, we mean it. You can access these sessions at any time from virtually any smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer system with a decent internet connection. You can also work through the sessions at your own pace–stopping and starting as often as necessary.

Registration

Registration for an on-demand session starts here on the Explorations Early Learning website. Select your session, add it to your cart, and complete the checkout process. If you already have an account on the site, you can log in during the checkout process. If not, you will be asked to create one. An account is necessary to participate in on-demand sessions.

After making your purchase, an Order Details page will open with details about your order. If you want to start your session immediately, click the My Courses link on the menu (You’ll find it on the top menu bar on larger screens and you’ll have to open the menu on small-screen devices.)

That’ll open up a page displaying all your on-demand session purchases. Just click your session to get started.

You’ll also receive an email with a link to your session if you’d prefer to start at a later time. You’ll always be able to access your sessions via the My Course menu item and the email link.

Structure

On-demand sessions are made up of Modules, Lessons, and Quizzes. Each module consists of one or more lessons relating to the module’s topic. Lessons may include video or audio clips, text, slides, or photos–and usually consist of a combination of those components. Lessons may or may not end with a quiz that must be completed (generally with a grade of at least 80%) before finishing the session. As an example, here’s an image showing the four modules that make up the Building Better Block Play Part 1 session.

And here’s a look at the first modules lessons:

This basic structure will allow you to both navigate the session and know where you are at all times. Speaking of navigation, let’s look at navigating a session.

Navigation

First off, you’ll see a progress bar on top of each page that’ll let you know how many lessons are left to complete and what percentage of the session has been completed.

Right under the progress bar, you’ll also see a Contact Course Teacher button. Press that link at any time to send us a message and get support. We’ll respond ASAP. In Addition to the Contact Lesson Teacher button, you can also email jeff@explorationsearlylearning.com or message us via Facebook Messenger at any time for technical support if you prefer those options.

Navigating lessons is intuitive and easy, but looks a bit different on various sizes of screens:

On larger screens, you’ll see the navigation panel in a sidebar to the left of the session’s content.

On smaller screens, you’ll find the navigation panel by scrolling down to below the lesson’s content.

No matter the screen size, navigation works the same on all devices. Here’s a crash course:

  • The arrow pointing left (<) will take you to the previous lesson and the right-pointing arrow (>) will take you to the next lesson.
  • A white check mark in a green circle next to a lesson means you’ve completed that lesson.
  • A white arrow in a gray circle indicates the lesson you are currently viewing.
  • A gray circle indicates lessons that have not been completed.

When you’re ready to take a lesson’s quiz, just click the blue View The Lesson Quiz button.

At the bottom of quizzes, you’ll see buttons for completing or saving the quiz. If you’re done and want to submit the quiz, hit Complete Quiz. If you want to come back and work on it later, hit Save Quiz.

At the end of lesson’s that do not have quizzes, you’ll find a green Complete Lesson button. Clicking it will mark the lesson as complete and advance you to the next one.

Finishing A Session

To finish a session, you must complete all lessons and quizzes. Once this is done, we will grade your quizzes. If you pass them, we’ll send an email with links to both the session recourse page and evaluation. If you don’t pass a quiz, we’ll be in touch asking for more information and/or offering a chance to review the material and try again. You’ll be able to redo quizzes until you pass.

Evaluations

The evaluation is a chance to provide feedback on the session, the platform, and the trainer. We value your thoughtful responses and use the information collected to improve our trainings. An evaluation must be submitted to receive a certificate.

Certificates

After submitting the session evaluation, you’ll receive an email with your personalized training certificate. In addition to the session title, participant name, session length, and date of completion, our certificates include participant’s address, the session’s description and objectives. For security purposes, we also include the IP address from which the evaluation was submitted and a unique id number.

Here’s some certificate examples:

Resource Pages

Session resource pages are exactly what they sound like–pages with links to resources relating to a session’s topic. Only those who have completed a session have access to that sessions’ resource page. You can also reach out via the page’s comments to ask questions or request support. Implementing change can be challenging and we are always eager to assist.

Stay Up To Date

If you take a session an enjoy it, you can join our training and event newsletter to stay up to date with our on-demand and live on-line trainings.
