Conveying Playing: Explaining How Classroom Experiences Build Tangible Skills

“What did you do today?” “I played!” As educators and caregivers, we know and love this sentiment – but it might give families a pause. It can sometimes be hard to understand what exactly “I played” entails: should my kid really be ‘playing’ all day? That’s where we have the opportunity to step up and start conveying playing in a way that captures all of its benefits. In this training, we’ll review what skills children might be practicing when they play, and gain a better understanding of how to train ourselves to see play as a vehicle for learning. We’ll then examine ways to ‘translate’ classroom experiences for families and other adults, ensuring that they understand how active children’s minds are.

While we hope you attend our sessions for the content, we know certificates are important. A link to a short evaluation is shared at the end of each live on-line session. Complete this evaluation, and a personalized PDF certificate of participation is generated and emailed to you. In-service training requirements vary depending on location. Below, you’ll find info on where our certificates are currently accepted. We’re always working to gain approval in more locations.

United States

Canada

  • Alberta | We have been informed that Alberta does not have a pre-approval process and that our certificates contain the required information to be accepted as in-service training.
  • British Columbia | Explorations Early Learning was told that in BC, “professional development is assessed on a case by case basis after the workshop has been completed, and the certificate has been received.” Our certificates contain all the information required for approval, and our sessions cover topics that are traditionally approved.

Australia

We have not yet had time to dig into approval requirements for in-service trainings in any Australian states. It’s on the to-do list.
