Power And Action

Is your program “boy friendly”? Do high-energy kids baffle you? This program is for you. Explore your own biases and explore the wonderful world of high-energy play, from rough-and-tumble games to weapon play. Find ways to welcome big motion play and make your program more child friendly (and adult friendly, too!). Heather’s book IT’S OK NOT TO SHARE celebrates the overlooked benefits of rough and active play.

Heather Shumaker is an author and early childhood speaker. Her renegade parenting books, It’s OK Not to Share and It’s OK to Go Up the Slide, promote play, risk-taking, and emotional and social learning and have been translated into French, Chinese, Korean, Arabic, and other languages. Heather is also a children’s fiction author. The Griffins of Castle Cary is an award-winning adventure for kids ages 8-12. Find her Fiction Friday videos on YouTube and weekly podcast Renegade Rules.
