I’ve been an early learning speaker since 2000 and have keynoted events across the USA, Canada, and Australia over the last two and a half decades. For years, I was on the road 25+ weekends a year, thanks to word-of-mouth promotion from satisfied attendees. You’ll find details of everything covered on this page in my FAQs.
I’ve presented online training for nearly as long, since 2006. Since 2018, that’s been my primary focus.
The 40+ topics I offer break down into 4 major categories: play, caregiver self-care, do-it-yourself ideas, and program operations.
A bit of my history: I worked with kids in a center-based program for 16 years, mostly as program director. My wife, Tasha, and I ran a family child care for a bit over 10 years. Sometime in there, I wrote a bunch of books for Redleaf Press, was a toymaker for a bunch of years, and hosted the world’s longest-running and most prolific early learning podcast for 12 years. Now, I create and curate early learning resources at Playvolution HQ when I’m not doing training.
Training Options
Here’s a quick look at what I do training-wise:
Live Online Training
I offer a live one-hour training here at the Explorations Early Learning site 3 or 4 times a month. Training certificates are available to those who attend the session and complete an evaluation after the training. Attendees also have access to a resource page after the training with additional information on the topic.
Private Online Events
I also conduct live online training events for outside organizations, primarily regional early learning organizations and individual early learning programs.
Recorded Training
I’ve made recordings of some past live online training events available for those interested. I don’t issue certificates for these. These recordings also include access to a resource page with useful related links.
In Person Training
Finally, I venture away from home for face-to-face events where I present keynotes, breakout sessions, or whole days of training on a variety of topics.
